What is The Story?
The Story is an abridged, chronological Bible that reads like a novel. There are no verse references, and Scripture segments are seamlessly woven together with transition text into a single grand narrative. For those intimidated or overwhelmed by the unabridged Bible, The Story helps people understand God’s Word more fully and engage with it more easily.
What does this mean for Resurrection?
Resurrection as a whole will be going through the 31 weeks of The Story together! From our youngest Pathfinders students to our most seasoned adult leaders, all ages will be encouraged to participate in this church wide study.
Sunday morning messages, Elevate on Wednesdays, and Pathfinders sunday school lessons will all revolve around that week's The Story reading.
Each household will be given a single, complimentary copy of The Story book so you can follow along as a family. These can be picked up in the Gathering Place through Rally Sunday.
If you would like an extra copy, the book is $5 each. Study guide books for The Story are available for $15 each. Both extra copies of The Story and the study guides can be purchased at the Connect Corner.
We encourage all our adults to step into a Journey Group where you can discuss that weeks reading and message with others you can find fellowship with. You can join a Journey Group at any time!
Elevate on Wednesday nights will be using The Story’s curriculum. Their lesson each week will coincide with Sunday morning message, but with slight changes to make it more relatable to the teens.
Each student will receive their own copy of The Story.
These materials will be handed out at Wednesday Night Elevate which begins on September 11.
Pathfinders on Sunday mornings will be using The Story’s children’s curriculum. Their lesson each week will coincide with the adult’s message, but in an easy to understand for kids format.
Each household with at least one Prekindergartner will receive a copy of The Story for Little Ones book.
Each household with at least one Kindergarten-3rd grader will receive a copy of The Story for Children book.
Each household with at least one 4th-5th grader will receive a copy of The Story for Kids book.
These materials will be handed out at Pathfinders in the Children’s Ministry Hall on Rally Sunday, September 8.
Short answer: ABSOLUTELY!
You are welcome to join our study of The Story at any point in any number of capacities including Sunday Morning worship, Pathfinders Sunday School, Elevate Wednesday Nights, and Journey Groups. While reading the previous chapters can give a better understanding of the grander story, it is not necessary to “get caught up” to understand each week’s message. Simply be sure to read the upcoming week’s chapter before Sunday.
If you are interested in studying previous chapters on your own, you can find all our previous messages on YouTube or the Church Center App.
