Middle School Ministry 6th – 8th Grade
A time of rapid growth in all areas of life, including physical, emotional, relational and spiritual, the middle school years can be challenging for both parents and children alike. The curiosity, wonder and openness to the Gospel of the younger years has grown into a need to start asking some of the deeper questions of life and figure out what faith in God means for them – personally.
Our goal is to offer a safe environment to support middle school students and increasingly challenge them in their faith. Here are some of the ways we do that at Resurrection.
Grapple
Grapple is our preteen Sunday morning program for students who are in 5th and 6th Grade. Each week we gather to not only wrestle or grapple with tough questions regarding life and faith, we encourage it. Some examples of the
questions we may grapple with this year include: Why can’t I go to PG-13 movies? What would Jesus play on his IPod? Is God a party pooper? Why do my parents always say no? What if Jesus is a liar? And more! Ever wonder about those kinds of things? Most kids do to one degree or another. At Grapple, we create the environment where kids can feel safe to talk about the questions they’re thinking about.
Grapple meets Sunday mornings at 9:30 am during the school year.

Cross Training/Confirmation
Our Cross Training Ministry is the 6th – 9th grade Confirmation program at Resurrection. Our goal is to help students grow towards maturity in their Christian faith and commitment by inviting them to participate in a small group community where they can connect with other Christians their age, grow in their understanding of what it means to be a Christian through Bible study and application to everyday life, serve and worship together. Cross Training is fun; it’s exciting and can help students take significant steps towards a victorious, spirit filled life.
Students who hope to confirm their faith in the Fall of their 10th grade year must actively participate in Cross Training. Our Cross Training ministry is a four-year program. Students begin in the Fall of their 6th grade year and complete the program by confirming their faith in the Fall of their 10th Grade year.
Cross Training meet meets Wednesday nights from 6:30 – 8:00 pm during the school year.
